The third TEDxBrixton was held at the Brixton Rec on 10 October 2015. The theme was Kaleidoscopes.

Our mission is to put Brixton on the global map for positive reasons; to spotlight the change that is happening in Brixton; to share innovations and ideas coming out of the area, and to make connections with like-minded people around the world.

See who spoke at TEDxBrixton 2015.

The inaugural TEDxBrixton was held in the summer of 2013, with the aim of bringing the TED experience to a wonderfully unique and diverse area of London. The theme for the day was Transformations. The second event happened on 11th October 2014 with the theme: When Worlds Collide.

We’re now planning for our fourth event, dates to be confirmed.

TEDxBrixton wouldn’t exist without volunteers!

TEDxBrixton is an initiative of Stephanie Busari, a long-term resident of the area who was granted the licence to organise TEDxBrixton by the TED organisation. TEDxBrixton is run by a small team of volunteers, all passionate about the power of ideas.

If you would like to join us or be involved in this year’s event as a speaker, performer, sponsor or volunteer, then do please contact us at info@tedxbrixton.com.

Current Vacancies:

As part of the partnerships sub-team, you will work maintaining existing partnerships, and building new ones. This will involve researching potential collaborators who would complement the TEDxBrixton values, setting up and attending meetings with new partners and sponsors and securing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships. We are looking for someone who is proactive, takes initiative and thinks outside the box. Knowledge of the local community and groups would be an advantage in terms of potential outreach work.

Currently we are undertaking a massive re-haul of our website and we are looking for someone to work closely with our Creative Director in implementing this update to create a user-friendly website. You will be a front-end developer who is able to read and understand basic PHP and is up-to-date with the latest HTML and CSS standards. You’ll also have an excellent knowledge of WordPress and its content management system and help us build features, tools and apps across a range of platforms including WordPress and Facebook.

Working as part of the Social Media and Communications sub-team, you’ll help us build a friendly and engaged community around TEDxBrixton. As a team, you’ll manage our social media presence, posting to our accounts and monitor our social mentions and online presence. You’ll have a good understanding of a range of platforms, especially Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and lots of new, fresh ideas for content and social engagement. You’ll work with our storytellers to promote their latest blog posts and images on social media.

Working closely with the Executive Producer, Curator and heads of other sub-teams, the Project Manager is responsible for co-ordinating the smooth running of TEDxBrixton. This involves constant communication between each sub-team; ensuring deadlines are set and met as required; getting more involved in sub-team tasks if the need arises; ensuring all communication goes through Slack. This role will develop as the project progresses.

To stay up to date, keep an eye on our Blog, or follow TedxBrixton on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBrixton, where x = independently organised TED event. At our TEDxBrixton event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.
