When it comes to the basic components of a French country home, keep in mind what creates the warmth and inviting feeling. Many French homes are colored in deep, rich colors and decorated with furniture that is as ornate as a work of art. Combine this with the accents of wonderful French urns, lamps and other accessories to help complete the look and feel of rustic home decor.

Another area that is generally skipped is the space above your kitchen cupboards. Try adding some traditional French kitchen ware and other ceramic or terracotta jars or urns. And a French country kitchen would not be complete without some assortment of copper pots and utensils.

Lighting plays an equally important part of French decorating, including the use of chandeliers and traditional French sconce lighting. Using colors, textures, lighting, furniture and some choice accenting accessories, you can give yourself the warm rustic look and feel of French country decor.

Try adding some traditional French kitchen ware and other ceramic or terracotta jars or urns. And a French country kitchen would not be complete without some assortment of copper pots and utensils.

The other, cheaper option is to get a freestanding deck. This is a laddered platform that stands next to the pool and has enough room for one or two people to stand. It also has a ladder the leads into the pool. There is a gate around the platform to prevent anyone from falling and injuring themselves. It also has a lock for when you don't want anyone getting in the pool while you are not there. Freestanding decks are the most inexpensive and easiest to install above ground swimming pool decks available. Anything less would be a simple A-frame ladder that fits across the pool ledge.

1. Tell us a bit about your background? I’m the partnerships manager, which means I look after our relationships with local businesses and sponsors.2. What’s your favourite thing to do in Brixton? I’ve lived her for a while now and this answer changes weekly, but at the moment I love hot yoga classes at Fierce Grace, after which I stagger down the road to Lucy’ Juices for a pick me up. As I expect most people who live here say, Brixton Market is a favourite spot – Fish Wings and Tings is an institution and Dave from Market Row wines will always find you a great bottle. Oh, and Three Eight Four on Coldharbour Lane does the best cocktails I can find.3. What’s your interpretation of this years’ theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? I’ve been working with a lot of local businesses this year and the theme has been very meaningful for a lot of people, as it represents the mash-up of old and new that Brixton is currently experiencing.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? A few! Currently switching, depending on my mood, between Tim Jackson’s Prosperity without Growth (he has a great TED talk by the way) and Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient, which is a favourite of my dad’s, so he’s chuffed I am finally reading it.5. What’s your favourite TED talk? An all time great and one that I always pass on to others is Jackson Katz – Violence Against Women: It’s a Men’s Issue. Heavy title I know, but just a genius argument and one that never fails to spark debate.

1. Tell us a bit about your background? I’m a finance consultant at PwC and I work in the partnerships team with TEDxBrixton.2. What’s your favourite thing to do in Brixton? Eating a bowl of noodles at Mama Lan in Brixton Market.3. What’s your interpretation of this years’ theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? It’s about changing perceptions and seeing things in a different way.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? Money and football – a Soccernomics guide by Stefan Szymanski.5. What’s your favourite TED talk? Dan Gilbert: Why We Make Bad Decisions.

An incredible amount of work goes into creating a TEDx experience and TEDxBrixton is no exception. With this years’ theme being so full of colour shape, it was down to our Executive Producer and Stage Designer to visualise and create a kaleidoscopic atmosphere that works seamlessly with the iconic TED brand. From the staging and venue design to the way finding and external branding, every detail was uniquely crafted by this talented team whose knowledge of events and design ensure TEDxBrixton 2015 leaves a lasting and impactful legacy.

I love the Brixton Market and the wide range of food you can choose.3. What’s your interpretation of this years’ theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? Something that is constantly changing but is still so colorful and amazing to look at. This is how I feel about Brixton and the people living in it.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins – a book about how our brain works and if it’s possible to build a machine with artificial intelligence. Very interesting!5. the organisation is keen on supporting people between the ages of 16-25 who are not in education or employment and have a passion to learn business and design skills. “Being [based] in Brixton Village has enabled us to provide retail, design and printing lessons to youths in Lambeth. This gives them the opportunity to be at the forefront of the regeneration process which is currently taking place in Brixton.”
