We wouldn’t be able to put on such an incredible event if it wasn’t for the help of our sponsorship team. These guys boast a unique ability for sourcing the most suitable supporters to raise the profile of TEDxBrixton. Due to their strong experience in fundraising, they create and manage the budget, raise money from sponsors and oversee our partnerships program and live streaming venues. Their work is vital to our success and development.
According to over 600 attendees, TEDxBrixton 2015 certainly lived up to its expectations. Queues formed outside the Brixton Recreation Centre before doors even opened and at 1pm our founder Stephanie Busari welcomed the audience by delivering a compelling speech.

Should you be short on space in your bedroom consider buying a narrow bedside cabinet. Metal cabinets look sleek and are slim, taking up less space than a wooden nightstand. Complement with a tall, slim lamp to give the effect of height and vertical space. Pedestals are another great space-saving option and provide just enough room for a lamp, book or drink.

You buy a house with a great looking bay window. You think of all the great ways you can dress it. Then you think of curtains or shades, next you start to shop around looking and pricing up. Then it hits you the reality of dressing this beautiful window.
Then hang curtains from the underside of the boards on a curtain track. Then finally cover the top board with a fabric covered pelmet or as you Americans say Cornice. They can be made in all shapes and sizes and look ultra modern or traditional.

If you want to create a consistent look in your home, you can get dual purpose cabinets for your cooking area as well as the bathrooms. When you purchase a cabinet for use in your kitchen, make certain it will have enough space to hold all the cleaners and kitchen items that you want to hide away. If your house has a traditional look featuring a lot of antiques, you can find antique cabinets and countertops in a matching style. You may be able to find a good price on antique furniture by purchasing items from a well-known dealer when the items go on sale.

Giving the space volume and new perspectives, so the role of indoor lighting is to "dress up" the setting, to bring out certain details, to attract attention or create a certain type of atmosphere. General lighting is designed to evenly distribute light in a room and/or concentrate light to different points of interest. There are many choices if lighting designs but because of minimal ceiling heights in basements the main fixture used is the Hi-hat or canister light. This hi-hat is installed inside the ceiling cavity and is only noticeable from it's outward facing finish. As a main luminescent source, these must be chosen in order to satisfy the requirements of the role of the room. The basement is usually low on natural brightness. Unless you plan on spending a lot to get regular sized windows installed the lighting choices and designs should be deployed to make up for the lack of natural brightness.

Flooring for the basement must, of course, improve the overall aesthetic appeal of the room but it should also be able to keep humidity under control and ensure that the moisture a basement typically gets is also kept under control. Furthermore, you need to remember that the basement can very often be prone to flooding so whatever flooring solution you go for, make sure that the room is properly insulated or the kind of flooring you choose will not perish with flooding.
Your other option is laminate flooring, usually in the form of vinyl flooring as your best option for the basement. These days vinyl looks truly excellent and lasts an incredibly long time. It is also very durable and easy to install, meaning you can definitely do it at home yourself without needing to get a contractor in. Vinyl floors come in all shapes, designs and sizes and are certainly worth a look.
