2. What’s your favourite thing to do in Brixton? I spend pretty much every day in Brixton and still love just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere, mainly walking through Market Row, Granville Arcade and Electric Avenue.3. What’s your interpretation of this year’s theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? My interpretation is very much a visual one. Kaleidoscopes are beautiful ever-changing patterns that develop and grow without knowing what you are going to see next. I think that hugely describes Brixton. It is such a diverse place that is constantly changing. Every day I see new developments and the way things change but still fit together and work alongside each other.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? I’m reading a few! One is “Lean in” by Sheryl Sandberg which is a hugely motivational read that I would recommend to anyone. I’m also working my way through the new Gizzi Erskine “Healthy Eating” cookbook which is brilliant. I’ve just finished Lena Dunham’s “Not That Kind of Girl” which had me in stitches throughout and gave a whole new perspective on being a woman in her twenties!5. What’s your favourite TED talk? That opinion changes daily, I have the app so constantly have a look as to what kind of talk I’d like to listen to. One that really sticks out is from this year’s TED in Vancouver by David Eagleman which we screened at the Impact Hub in Brixton. It really opens your eyes to what science can do6. What’s your biggest highlight from last year’s TEDxBrixton event? I put forward Simon Parkes as someone to approach as a speaker for 2014 and seeing him on stage after weeks of developing his talk and being such a huge fan of his story and book was a very special moment, one I will remember for a very long time.
1. Tell us a bit about your background? I’m a finance consultant at PwC and I work in the partnerships team with TEDxBrixton.2. What’s your favourite thing to do in Brixton? Eating a bowl of noodles at Mama Lan in Brixton Market.3. What’s your interpretation of this years’ theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? It’s about changing perceptions and seeing things in a different way.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? Money and football – a Soccernomics guide by Stefan Szymanski.5. What’s your favourite TED talk? Dan Gilbert: Why We Make Bad Decisions.

To avoid having to deal with too much traffic with not enough room, try making sure you can have four to six feet of aisle space. If you place the sink and refrigerator on one wall, and then the range opposite it on the other side, this will allow the room to be evenly spaced out and not look over crowded. You could even add an island or peninsula off the end of one counter which will aid in allowing a place for quick eat in meals.
Some of the important aspects to keep in mind when thinking of galley kitchen ideas, is the width of the aisle, the lighting, and the storage. when possible. If you can hide the fridge or dishwasher behind a cabinetry panel, this will give the room a tidy appearance. Other tips to use for kitchen remodel ideas are open shelving,a large pass-through window, and light colored cabinets all work to create an airy, open concept.

In the olden medieval days, the fireplace mantel also known as chimneypiece, was originally meant to catch the smoke from the hearth or fireplace. Eventually, it evolved into an art form, and sometimes elaborate mantels (which would extend even to the ceiling) became the focal point of a room. Over the years, as modern heating technologies, people didn't need fireplaces anymore and they became purely ornamental. It is essential then, for any fireplace because now they are just for designs.
Mirrors are such an underused decorating piece. It really is such a versatile piece which can be used anywhere, and the fireplace mantel is not exception. If you have a large wall space over the mantel, place a big mirror with a nice frame over the mantel. Keep the mantel clutter free. With a mirror in place, you don't really need much. A mirror can also give a small room a bigger feel, which is a big plus.
