TEDxBrixton 2015 may be over but you can still get involved in our Ideas from Europe competition in association with the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills. The big day: Our favourite moments!
According to over 600 attendees, TEDxBrixton 2015 certainly lived up to its expectations. Queues formed outside the Brixton Recreation Centre before doors even opened and at 1pm our founder Stephanie Busari welcomed the audience by delivering a compelling speech.
1. Tell us a bit about your background? I’m the partnerships manager, which means I look after our relationships with local businesses and sponsors.2. What’s your favourite thing to do in Brixton? I’ve lived her for a while now and this answer changes weekly, but at the moment I love hot yoga classes at Fierce Grace, after which I stagger down the road to Lucy’ Juices for a pick me up. As I expect most people who live here say, Brixton Market is a favourite spot – Fish Wings and Tings is an institution and Dave from Market Row wines will always find you a great bottle. Oh, and Three Eight Four on Coldharbour Lane does the best cocktails I can find.3. What’s your interpretation of this years’ theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? I’ve been working with a lot of local businesses this year and the theme has been very meaningful for a lot of people, as it represents the mash-up of old and new that Brixton is currently experiencing.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? A few! Currently switching, depending on my mood, between Tim Jackson’s Prosperity without Growth (he has a great TED talk by the way) and Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient, which is a favourite of my dad’s, so he’s chuffed I am finally reading it.5. What’s your favourite TED talk? An all time great and one that I always pass on to others is Jackson Katz – Violence Against Women: It’s a Men’s Issue. Heavy title I know, but just a genius argument and one that never fails to spark debate.

2. What’s your favourite thing to do in Brixton? I spend pretty much every day in Brixton and still love just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere, mainly walking through Market Row, Granville Arcade and Electric Avenue.3. What’s your interpretation of this year’s theme ‘Kaleidoscopes’? My interpretation is very much a visual one. Kaleidoscopes are beautiful ever-changing patterns that develop and grow without knowing what you are going to see next. I think that hugely describes Brixton. It is such a diverse place that is constantly changing. Every day I see new developments and the way things change but still fit together and work alongside each other.4. What book(s) are you currently reading? What’s it about? I’m reading a few! One is “Lean in” by Sheryl Sandberg which is a hugely motivational read that I would recommend to anyone. I’m also working my way through the new Gizzi Erskine “Healthy Eating” cookbook which is brilliant. I’ve just finished Lena Dunham’s “Not That Kind of Girl” which had me in stitches throughout and gave a whole new perspective on being a woman in her twenties!5. What’s your favourite TED talk? That opinion changes daily, I have the app so constantly have a look as to what kind of talk I’d like to listen to. One that really sticks out is from this year’s TED in Vancouver by David Eagleman which we screened at the Impact Hub in Brixton. It really opens your eyes to what science can do6. What’s your biggest highlight from last year’s TEDxBrixton event? I put forward Simon Parkes as someone to approach as a speaker for 2014 and seeing him on stage after weeks of developing his talk and being such a huge fan of his story and book was a very special moment, one I will remember for a very long time.

Another design of the bedroom that give prominence to masculinity is a rustic style. In this design, the bedroom will mainly contain items made from wood. Therefore, the room can be decorated to resemble a luxurious ski lodge or a cabin in the woods. In rustic style, the furniture should be made from material with a strong natural characteristic, like oak, pine or hickory. Choose a heavy but simple piece of furniture. Select a bed with a slated headboard. In terms of bedding materials, you may choose from various materials like cotton, denim, flannel, wool or knit. Rustic style bedroom should also remain simple with color patterns that comprised of shades of blue, green, brown, khaki and beige. The natural elements should be maintained for the window blinds. Therefore, select wooden blinds with color that match the furnishings. To create a synergy amongst the bedroom elements, the lighting should also be made from natural elements like wood or iron. It is best if you choose an artwork that displays nature scenes. To complete the rustic look, a geometrical Persian rug would be a perfect choice.

Adult party guests often like to take home small items too. Sometimes these things don't include prizes as much as a sample of deserts for those at home. Goodie bags are a pretty good idea for cookie exchange parties. Each person brings a dozen cookies to a buffet table. They each collect one cookie from a dozen different plates. Plastic wrap and larger goodie bags are safe ways to transport these back home..football goodie bag ideas, goodie bag ideas for toddlers, goodie bag ideas for teens, baseball goodie bag ideas,
Every color imaginable has its place at themed birthday parties or holiday get-togethers. Easter parties are the perfect place for the pink, yellow, green or blue pastel goodie bags. Christmas decorations have changed over the years to include a wider palette of colors so that goodie bags of midnight blue or even earth tones can be used to match existing decorations or tableware.

7. Assemble your houses the night before the party. Assembling the night before ensures that the icing will be dry when your guests arrive. Use an assembly line method. If using a basic house design, construct the 4 walls first for all the houses. By the time you are done with the walls of the last house, the first house will be dry enough to put the roof on.How To Host A Gingerbread House Party

Make Your Graduation Party One of a Kind! Creative Graduation Party Ideas
Once you have a budget and have decided on your venue, then settle on a date and do it early. You will be competing with lots of other parties this time of year and by getting yours on the calendar first you will avoid conflicts. Next decide on invitations. You can order them online or buy them in the stores. However to save money, you can make them yourself on the computer. There are numerous invitation products available in office supply stores that will give you templates to make your own. Be creative... add graduation clipart, a logo from the college or high school of your graduate or even inset a photo! Unless you have room in your house or are having it off site, ALWAYS plan a rain date. Also make sure you have an RSVP with a date deadline and add your email as well as your phone number. A 'regrets only" RSVP system makes for tricky planning. Recently, I have even seen people use free online invitation services.
Garage. Published at Friday, October 26th 2018, 04:00:54 AM by Shelby G.
This is one of the types of garage shelving arrangements used in many places where there is not much space even for a car. There's the advantage of taking your shelving high and wide in which case you will still have access to space on the garage floor. This garage storage shelving can allow you to hold bins where you keep such things as light bulbs, tools, seasonal clothing and shoes. The entire garage floor space can still be used by your car and other items like scooters, push mowers, bicycles and other things you may deem fit to store in your garage.
There are many benefits that can be counted and are attributable to the use of garage cabinets and storage. It is not only your garage that will experience freedom, but you are going to enjoy freedom in your garage yourself because the organizing all of the clutter will lead to an easier life for you. Everything in your house especially those vital tools have their respective places and you won't need to expend energy in fruitless missions searching for items that are not lost but only misplaced. Above all, your car for which the garage was created in the first place would have its rightful place back in your garage instead of being exposed to the elements outside in the driveway.

Garage Flooring Ideas 2018
However many garage floor ideas you can come up with, you need to start from square one and make sure that the floor is spotlessly clean before you do anything. Don't try and work around everything else that is cluttering this room. Now is the time to conduct your spring cleaning anyway, so that you can actually see the car beneath all that junk!
